Reading this the first thing that came to my mind is “Who are they?” Well if you read the passage before this one you will see that “They” are the arrogant. Arrogance is a quality I never want to have or have attached to my name. The definition of arrogance is “having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.” No wonder that scripture says the arrogant’s hearts are fat and gross.
Here is the best part of this scripture, last latter part - “but I delight in your law.” The law is His Word and the only way to know it is to read and spend time with it. In so doing, we can avoid becoming like the men in this passage. For as you delight in The Word, His Word affects the condition of your heart.
So in one scripture we read the words “fat”, “gross”, “delight” and “law”. A short passage reminding us to delight with God. Get to know Him
