Brothers,
Today’s passage resonates with me. I am just back from a trip to northern Maine. It’s a trip I take annually with my dog to separate with God for refreshment and reflection. I spent this time at a small cabin off the grid beside a lake. No phone, no electricity, no internet and no running water. Yes it was an outhouse situation. It’s frankly a place that pushes me out of my comfort zone. A place where one can feel really cut off and alone if you lose your perspective.
As I spent many hours sitting beside the lake reflecting on this past year, God spent a lot of time reminding me of His many kindnesses in a tough year. He also caused me to remember that no matter what wilderness I may find myself in I am never truly alone, I am never cutoff because He is always with me.
The Israelites found themselves isolated in a desert. Far away from anything they had known. They let their fear of the unknown overwhelm them. They forgot who had brought them to this place and the wonders He had performed on their behalf to bring them this far.
This has been a tough year for all of us. There were days you felt isolated. There were days you felt cutoff. There were days you may have felt all alone in the world. YOU WERE NOT.
Remember, wherever the roads of life bring you, God goes before you, God has already been there. You are never truly alone.
