“They added nothing to my message.” Out of context, these words don’t mean much. In context, however, the Apostle Paul’s words are not only powerful but set a great example of how we can put ourselves in the best position to learn God’s Word.
Paul relied on other believers, and he treated the Word as if it was of the utmost importance. On multiple occasions he traveled to Jerusalem to meet with church leaders just to make sure he understood the Gospel. He went on to become one of the most influential people in the early church as God used him to spread the Word.
We might not be the Apostle Paul, but we can certainly learn from his example. We need to rely on our Christian brothers, and we need to approach the Word with the utmost importance. Let’s put ourselves in the best position to learn, and let’s pray that God teaches us His Word.
