Today we read some powerful words that open up the Book of Psalms. The contrast between two ways is striking: there is the way of sinners and the way of the righteous. The people of God must be characterized by righteousness, and the sinners have no place among them.
It also makes clear that the righteous delight in the law of The Lord. We find truth in The Word.
This truth runs contrary to our current popular culture. There seems to be an idea today that truth is relative. Feelings can somehow determine reality and all ideas are equal, even if these ideas contradict each other. Today’s reading reminds us just how corrupt the ideas of our popular culture can be.
What do we do with this information? The psalmist makes it clear that we must meditate on The Word. How often? Day and night, he writes. God has revealed Himself to us through His Word. Let it seep into every fiber of our being and transform us into the people He wants us to be.
