What are we being called to delight in here?
We need to be careful not to drive by the first part of this passage. It is a short expression used throughout The Bible, but a very important expression. It is used to signify something more.
Blessed are those who fear The Lord. This is much more than just showing reverence to God.. For explanation we need only look to Deuteronomy 10:12-13, which is titled Fear The Lord. It states; “And now, Israel, what does The Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to Him, to love Him, to serve The Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe The Lord’s commands and decrees…”
To sum this passage up, we are called to walk in the ways God has called us to. We are called to Obey, Love, Serve and Observe The Words of God.
This is the life God has called us to. A life where we will walk in the promises of God. A life of blessing. A life where God walks near us. God has set apart for us a life that is different than any we could imagine. A path filled with purpose and impact. A path filled with Hope. A knowing that no matter what we experience in our days, whether big or small, God walks beside us through it. An understanding that we are never alone.
To achieve this life, to see all of the wonderful places and purposes God has for us, we need only listen and obey the commands of His Word. Delight in them. Delight in the ways of God. For in them is life.
