This passage is simple and yet powerful in it’s message. It is a straightforward bold statement on life and action. You are my God is a fact. It is a declaration that we are His people and He is our God.
This fact of who God is to us should spur us to action. He is praiseworthy because of who He is. He deserves our praise because He chose us to be in His presence.
The second line is not just a repeat of the first line. It speaks to the rest of this chapter. The verses above recount how God had again and again moved on behalf of the psalmist. Again and again God had proven Himself greater than any challenge, circumstance or storm the writer had faced.
Are you facing a storm right now? Are you in the midst of a circumstance in your life that overwhelms you. You are not alone. God is near. Draw near to Him.
When we praise God with intention we are drawn into His presence. It shifts out focus. When we exalt God we are speaking truth that God is bigger than anything, anything life can throw at us. There is no giant in the land that is bigger than God.
So Praise Him. Draw near to Him. Exalt Him. Exalt Him with your mouth and in your heart. Exalt Him and see how He moves in your life.
