Brothers,
This one could use some context.
Nehemiah is a great book that chronicles the return of many Israelites who had been held in Babylon (near modern day Baghdad, Iraq) as part of the Babylonian Captivity. Many believe that God used Babylon as an instrument to punish the Jews for idolatry.
Eventually, many Jews were allowed to return to Jerusalem. They had much to rebuild - both physical structures as well as the condition of their hearts. In some ways Nehemiah is a great story of “R’s” - return, rebuild, restore, repent, rededicate, redemption. In today’s verse we read of the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem to God.
While we might not be returning from captivity in a foreign land, we still have much to be thankful for. Let’s praise the Lord by thanking Him for our many blessings.
Your Brothers in Christ,
