Brothers,
It’s noteworthy that this Psalm begins with giving thanks. When we approach God with thanksgiving in our heart it causes a focus shift. Acknowledging God for who He is always and the love He shows us regardless of any need in our life is the right place for us when approaching God.
This was a shift in my walk with God a number of years ago. God pressed on me to thank Him first before bringing my petitions. To thank Him for His who is to me and for hearing my prayers. It causes me to remember how He has helped me before and gives me confidence that He continues to hear my prayers.
Philippians 4:6 instructs us on this “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Take time with God to remember who He is to you and how He has impacted your life. Thank Him for this. When you cry out to God, do so with thanksgiving. He is worthy of this for He is God and yet still takes times to listen to us.
There is one more instruction in today’s Psalm. “Let the redeemed of The Lord tell their story.” Today is a day we remember the birth of our country and how God moved to bring this about. We tell this story to every generation. In the same way let us remember , with gratitude, our new beginning that was brought about by Jesus. Let us tell our story to each new generation so that others may know Jesus and have cause to give thanks.
