Brothers,
We need to coach ourselves. When we run into circumstances we did not expect, when we feel despair pulling at our soul, stop and remember.
Remembering how God has moved for you in the past can be a powerful way to coach yourself through a present storm or circumstance. It is effective in shifting our eyes off the challenges in front of us to The One who has rescued us from other challenges.
The psalmist asks himself “Why, my soul are you downcast?” He is in the midst of a storm when he is writing these words. He is being authentic about where he’s at. But He also knows he can’t stay there. It’s not healthy.
He speaks to his soul encouraging himself, reminding himself of days past when his eyes were fixed on God. He speaks life into himself when he states “I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.” For the psalmist knows God hears him, as He has in the past and God will move and give the psalmist cause to Praise.
Remember, Cry Out to The Lord every time you have a need in your life. Even for the smallest details. Go to Him first. Remember how He has moved before and trust Him to do so again.
