30 Days of Hope - Day 5

Brothers and Sisters:

The Apostle Paul reminds us that hope and faith are intimately connected. How could they not be? When we put our faith in Christ, we are naturally filled with hope. It is not the hope that we can sometimes encounter in this world, however. Instead, it is a hope that comes with a guarantee.

Regardless of the assurance we have in Christ, the anxiety and fears of this world can still overwhelm us. They are real. For example, it is nearly impossible to escape the latest news on the Coronavirus. It is spreading rapidly, and naturally we fear for our health, our loved ones, our jobs. When our minds start racing, they can take us to some dark places. We often find it harder to live out our beliefs in times like this.

It is interesting to note that the apostle begins chapter 8 by discussing our life through The Spirit. It is another reason that we should have hope regardless of the news we hear every day. Jesus promised that The Spirit would be with us in this life. He is our comforter and walks beside us daily. No matter how lonely or scared we might become in these times, take comfort in knowing that you are NEVER alone. Instead, remember that we not only have hope in Christ, but we also have The Spirit by our side in our daily walk.
