40 Day Study -Understanding - Day 30

Brothers:

The disciples walked daily with Jesus yet in many instances the words He was speaking to them were misunderstood. In this scripture, Jesus is needing to remind them that their focus - in this instance on their human need for bread - was entirely in the wrong place.

I can relate to focusing only on my immediate needs.  I get off track when one of my human cravings rules the moment. I can misunderstand and so did the disciples.  However, once Jesus steers them back, all becomes clear again.

Our spending time with Jesus requires time in His Word.  Our understanding comes when The Holy Spirit is actively working in us to help us decipher what Jesus would have us do. Meditating on The Word with the help of The Holy Spirit is our access to the mind of Christ.

This idea is captured in Deuteronomy 8:3.

“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of The Lord.”

Be encouraged!
