Brothers,
As we approach July 4th weekend I am reminded of the observation John Adams made in his letter to the Militia in 1798.
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
This observation relates to this scripture in the sense that it connects wisdom and understanding to following the decrees that God handed down through Moses.
Without rules and laws there would be complete chaos. Think for a moment if we didn’t have the unwritten courtesy of every other car when merging or entering an intersection. This is one simple considerate example of how order is maintained in our society.
In the same way God provides us with traffic lights in our lives that allow us to peacefully coexist together.
Do not bear false witness against your neighbor-Yield. Do not kill-Stop
Love your neighbor as yourself...Spread the Good News to ends of the earth-Go.
When we honor God by following His commands we are all better for it. He says, if you love me, follow my commands. We are blessed to have a God who calls us friends. Just like on “who wants to be a millionaire", when we get lost it is good to have the privilege to phone a friend.
Prayer connects us to our Creator and opens up the conduit from which wisdom flows and understanding is gained.
This reality is truly something to celebrate!
