Brothers,
This is a foundational passage for Understanding who God is, the deep truths to be found in His Word and how He relates to all areas of our lives. Read it and then read it again.
Apply your Heart to Understanding. This one directive, this command from God is essential for us. This is How we understand. We read God’s Words, we hear His Words, we see with our eyes, we hear with our ears but we Understand with our Heart. Jesus reinforces this in the Parable of the Sower. Our heart is the core of who we are. It is the soil into which God plants the seeds of His Word which grow to bear fruit in our lives. If you want to understand God, bending your heart to the task is the first step on that journey.
This passage echoes yesterday's passage. The Value of Understanding from God is immense. It is more valuable than money. Why, because understanding brings knowledge of and from God, the One who understands everything.
This passage then outlines at length the impact of this understanding in our lives. Wisdom and Protection. Wisdom chief among them. Wisdom for daily living, direction setting and decision making. The outflow of this wisdom being protection as God guards those who walk in His ways.
Six times this passage references understanding. It conveys God’s desire to gift this to us. The core of the message, pursue understanding like it was hidden treasure. Apply your heart to finding it and it will be found.
