30 Days of Hope - Day 16
Updated: Apr 16
Brothers and Sisters,
The Lord has been keeping this passage before me daily during this time. It is a very encouraging passage that is not only full of hope, but instruction and impact.
The Lord is near...these words by themselves should comfort us. In this time of forced isolation, even with technology, so many people feel alone. Fear tugs at their hearts with lies that they are on their own in this fight. The Lord is near...this is a promise, a statement of fact, you are not alone. You are not left to your own devices to navigate these days. Reject the lie, grasp the truth, your Savior is in your midst.
This passage is a call to action. God is instructing us to bring Him our anxieties in prayer. Bring your needs to him, bring your fears and bring your loneliness. Thank Him for moving on your behalf, for He is listening.
God tells us why we should do this. It’s a stunning statement of impact. We in Guywire have spent the better part of this past year unpacking the theme Understanding. God has shown us that it is His will to deepen our understanding of His Word and His ways. For Him to then state that the peace He offers us, a peace that will guard our hearts and minds from the fear lurking in these days, this peace surpasses our ability to understand it. This is truly an unparalleled gift from God available to us all.
I have memorized verses 6 and 7, I encourage all or you to do the same.
When I lay my head down at night, if the anxieties of this time begin to swirl in the stillness of darkness, I repeat these words and my spirit is settled, and I rest in the peace and knowledge that our Lord is near.
