Brothers,
I have read this passage so many times and over the years have heard it spoken in different studies as well as sermons. It is one to memorize and meditate on. This bold statement by Jesus gives us hope and strength.
Being persecuted or judged or looked down upon because of what one believes can be challenging to deal with. It can be a lonely place but Jesus gives us a rock to stand on because He understands. He knows what the world is capable of doing to us.
There are many things the world has to offer that opposes the peace and strength that Jesus owns. Jesus is peace. He is strength. He is courage. He is love. Just writing those last lines has empowered me and reminded me of Jesus’ incredible character. When He says “take courage because I have conquered the world!” He is telling us that we can deal with anything. We do not have to be victims to what the world throws at us.
So take courage men. Know that we can deal with whatever comes our way because Jesus has already dealt with it and He conquered it!
